Phase Spiders - Saurian Isles

When the Great Collapse sank the lands that would become the Aoatan Isles into the sea, great magical storms wracked the sky, their energies grounding themselves deep beneath the earth. From this tainted soil have sprung many strange creatures – grossly huge lizards, mage-eating mushrooms, and, most notably, a species of giant spider that can flicker effortlessly between the material and ethereal planes.

The average phase spider is roughly the size of a horse. A few lucky specimens, however, live for centuries and grow to truly aberrant sizes. These ancient arachnids not only have the power to slide between the planes, but also to drag their hapless victims with them, using their gleaming webs to transport prospective meals into the ethereal realm.
